6 Reasons Why Your Cat May Be Showing Attitude

We all love our feline creatures, but there are times when these little ones may be showing you attitude. In fact, it’s quite common. Just sometimes, it’s not really attitude, but it comes across that way. What you need to know is that there is always a reason behind it, so don’t dismiss such behavior without getting to the root cause.

To make it easier for you, we have made a list of the top reasons why your cat may be showing attitude.

1. It doesn’t want to be touched

Even though you may be petting your cat out of affection, there are times when your cat doesn’t like being touched. One of the ways in which they express this dislike is by showing you attitude. Don’t touch them for a while and see if that changes their attitude towards you.

2. It’s scared

Many times when your cat is scared they may appear as if they are showing you attitude. It could be at different points, for example, maybe a visit to the vet could cause their fear or a bigger animal that they may have encountered or even other people for that matter. This attitude is your cat’s fear or it could be them feeling uncomfortable in a situation so see what you can do to ease it for them.

3. It’s a motherly instinct

Cat moms are kind of similar to human moms in the sense that they are just as protective about their babies. In fact, they are so protective that they may even feel like they need to protect their kittens from you, which is why it is portrayed as attitude. If you go too close to them, you may find your cat getting aggressive or showing you attitude but just know that it comes from a place of protection and nothing more. Give your cat and her babies some space and she should be good with you.

4. Because of another cat scent

Just like dogs, cats also mark their territories with their powerful sense of smell. Keep in mind that this territory is not open to other cats. If they smell another cat in their zone, this may cause them to become aggressive and show you attitude.

5. Reacting to something beyond their vision

Sometimes, cats may not be able to see something, but because their sense of smell and hearing is sensitive they may have heard or smelt it. If they sense danger even if they can’t see it they can appear as if they are showing you attitude.

6. Medical reasons

One of the biggest reasons your cat may be showing you attitude is that they are in pain. Of course, they are not actually showing you attitudeattitude, but it may come across that way. If you feel like your cat is acting that way for a while, you may want to take them to the vet and find out what’s really going on.

Each of these reasons could be why you think your cat is showing you attitude. Don’t ignore it and deal with it early on to save your cat and yourself the trouble.
